JAN LUCA PLETZER
I am a Double PhD student at the VU Amsterdam, The Netherlands in Social and Organizational Psychology and at Jacobs University Bremen, Germany in Business Administration. I received both my Bachelor’s (Psychology) and Master’s degree (Industrial and Organizational Psychology; cum laude) from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. During this time, I was mostly interested in studying how emotional experiences differ between individuals with different occupations and how these individuals can regulate their emotions using different strategies. After finishing my Master’s degree, I became interested in studying cooperation. My research nowadays focuses on applying concepts and theories from social psychology, and more specifically from the literature on cooperation, to applied research in organizational psychology.
RESEARCH INTERESTS AND PROJECTS
Social Value Orientation, Expectations of Cooperation, and Cooperative Behavior (with Daniel Balliet, Paul Van Lange, and others)
In the project, we examine three competing theories predicting the relationship between social value orientation and expectations of cooperation in social dilemmas. In addition, we investigate whether expectations of cooperation mediate the relationship between social value orientation and cooperative behavior in social dilemmas.
Do Proselfs make Bad or Good Employees? The Relationship between Individual Differences in Social Value Orientation and Workplace Deviance (with Janneke Oostrom and Paul Van Lange)
The goal of the project is to develop a selection tool based on social value orientation measures to assess proneness to workplace deviance.
Further Projects
I am also working as a scientific consultant for the Mercedes Benz Plant (Daimler AG) in Bremen, Germany, on a project to overcome stereotypes regarding age.
